Emergency Support for WA Farmers After 2011 Losses

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced that farmers in 35 Washington state counties are now eligible to apply for emergency assistance and ongoing disaster assistance programs for losses suffered as a result of extreme weather conditions during the first seven months of 2011. Cantwell, along with Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), wrote Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack last August supporting Governor Chris Gregoire’s August 2nd request for immediate disaster designations stemming from the weather-related losses. 

Funding Available to Increase Forest Health

Eastern Washington forest landowner cost-share information is now available, effective October 1, 2011-September 30, 2012.

If you are a non-federal owner of forest land, you may be eligible for funding to improve forest health and reduce the risk of wildfire and bark beetle infestation. To learn more, download this pdf document:
