September Photo Contest

It's the next-to-last month of our photo contest, so if you haven't entered yet, here's your chance! The words to guide your photographic artistry this month are:

Bonaparte Creek Restoration Project

One of the best parts of my job is getting out to events and talking to folks about our projects here at the Okanogan Conservation District. This past Saturday, I spent the day at the Okanogan River Garlic Festival in Tonasket sharing information about the Bonaparte Creek Restoration Project. The District has been working with landowners on this project since 1997 to improve water quality in the creek by reducing pollution from various sources in the watershed.

August 2011 Photo Contest

August has arrived, and with it, three new words to inspire photographers in Okanogan County. Your photo contest entry could be featured in the "Seasons of Conservation" 2012 calendar, so get out there and start snapping!

Your Input Needed - Survey on Chewuch Watershed Roads

Announcement from Cynthia Wilkerson and Mike Anderson of The Wilderness Society

As part of our work to solicit feedback regarding the future of the Forest Service road system in the Chewuch Watershed, we have developed an on-line survey.  Please take the time to fill out the survey – this will require about 15 minutes and you will need to look at a map file that is included to answer some of the more specific questions.

WASHINGTON, June 28, 2011 – Deputy Agriculture Secretary Kathleen Merrigan today announced that applications are being accepted for grants to provide economic assistance to independent producers, farmer and rancher cooperatives and agricultural producer groups through the Value-Added Producer Grant Program.

June Photo Contest Information

Beacuse we have experienced problems updating our previous District web-site and with a change in staff we have been unable to get our June Photo Contest words posted.

Sooooo....we will run the June contest through July 15.  The June words for the photo contest are:

  • Produce
  • Grazing
  • Leaves

We will return to our normal schedule for photo submission with July.  Good luck and keep those entries rolling in!
